Trey McIntyre Project (TMP) Performs At South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center. One Night Only

Opening Night: Saturday, April 12 at 8:00pm

Trey McIntyre Project (TMP), a contemporary dance company led by choreographer Trey McIntyre, will perform at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center on Saturday, April 12 at 8:00pm. Since its founding in 2008, TMP has become one of the most celebrated dance companies throughout the country and abroad. TMP soars across the stage with athletic, innovative works that are appealing, relevant and evocative.

TMP will debut two new pieces in Miami: The Vinegar Works: Four Dances of Moral Instruction and Mercury Half-Life. The Vinegar Works is inspired by the work of illustrator and writer Edward Gorey and is set to the music of Dmitri Shostakovich. Mercury Half-Life is an exuberant new work exploring the life of Freddie Mercury, set to classic Queen songs. 10 dancers make up the ensemble of Trey McIntyre Project, including Miami’s own Elizabeth Keller (former student and corps dancer with Miami City Ballet).

Known for its hallmark musicality and a distinctly American voice, TMP uses the art of dance to break cultural boundaries and connect audiences on an accessible, yet profound human level. “I use dance to explore what it means to be a part of the human experience,” says Trey McIntyre, “I am drawn to the inherent beauty of ballet vocabulary to express myself. At the same time, I am committed to discovering new ways to explore and open up this vocabulary, so that it expresses who we are as people today, in this world.”

TMP has been featured in The New York Times, Dance Magazine, and on PBS NewsHour. The company has earned coast-to-coast acclaim from The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe and more. Based in Boise, Idaho, TMP has graced the stages of venues such as Jacob’s Pillow, The Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), Carnegie Hall, Zellerbach Hall and Walt Disney Concert Hall. TMP’s tours have visited China, Vietnam, the Philippines, South Korea, Belgium, Greece, Italy, Germany, Hungary, Colombia and the Dominican Republic.
