Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida New Season

From Oct 2011 through May 2012.

altAfter closing the season with great success, and touring internationally during the summer, Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida is gearing up for an exciting new season starting in October. The season opens with the classic Russian tale of Petrouchka, along with Artistic Director, Vladimir Issaev’s The Four Seasons, and a new work by renowned guest choreographer, Yanis Pikieris. The performances will be held at the Amaturo Theater, in the Broward Center for Performing Arts, and the new Aventura Arts and Cultural Center. Petrouchka tells the tale of a straw puppet that develops human emotions, eventually leading to conflict between him, the Ballerina, and the Moor.

The company will then journey to the Land of the sweets, as they perform the seasonal audience favorite, The Nutcracker at the Amaturo Theater, and the Aventura Arts and Cultural Center, throughout the month of December.

In 2011 Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida will bring back a fun ballet to the Family Series: Dr. Ouch, a colorful tale of an animal doctor who travels to Africa to cure the ill monkeys where they live surrounded by exotic birds, while Dr. Ouch and his crew go through comic adventures battling evil pirate Barmalei. The production will be held at the Amaturo Theater and the North Miami Beach Theatre during the month of March.

For the close of the season, Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida is hosting the VII International Ballet Concert, bringing dancers from all over the world to Miami in order to celebrate the art of dance. This is the second time Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida will be the host of such festival, and South Florida audiences will have the opportunity to see new and international dancers perform along with the members of the company. The performance will show once in Broward and Miami Dade during the month of May.

In addition to these main productions, Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida will perform at other venues in Boca Raton and Hialeah. The troupe will also be appearing in various schools in both Broward and Miami-Dade counties, as they continue to educate young children about ballet in their education out-reach program.
