ArtShop: Pop Up, Pop In, Pop Buy

Presented by Art Miami and ArtCenter/SouthFlorida January 5th, 2007Art Miami and ArtCenter/South Florida (ACSF) present ArtShop: Pop In, Pop Up, Pop Buy an al fresco shopping and artistic happening featuring the merchandise of Diego Garcia and the mixed media goods of Gotta Get Up on the Lincoln Roads pedestrian path at Meridian Avenue. Slated for Friday, January 5th, 2007, the all-day event includes a lecture about African-American art by renowned collector Bill Arnett. ArtShop was created to celebrate urban contemporary art in its various forms including fashion, posters, stationery and original artworks. A curated selection of trend-setting clothing and accessory essentials from Diego Garcia, the brainchild of shopping gurus Erica Kennedy – also known as the celebrated author of Bling – and Aisha Salmon will be showcased alongside the works of Jon Tomlinson of Gotta Get Up. Tomlinson’s thought-provoking style is a commentary on contemporary urban and pop culture, challenging racial, social and religious stereotypes through his collage pieces, reproductions, pulp collectibles and gift items.
