Jazz at Wolfson presents Drummer Danny Gottlieb

November 8th, 2006The Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus is presenting drummer Danny Gottlieb who will perform at the next Jazz at Wolfson Presents concert, which will be held at Miami Dade College?’s Wolfson Campus in Downtown Miami. Gottlieb studied with Mel Lewis and Joe Morello and graduated from the University of Miami in the mid 1970?s. After doing session work for a while in the Miami Beach area, Gottlieb joined Gary Burton’s Quartet during the time when Pat Metheny was the guitarist. When Metheny formed his own group, Gottlieb joined him. He later teamed up with Metheny’s bassist Mark Egan in a band called Elements. Gottlieb has worked in many other settings since then, including performing with John McLaughlin in the short-lived later version of the Mahavishnu Orchestra and with Al DiMeola.
