Miami Beach Stage Door's New Season at the Byron Carlyle Theatre

From September 21, 2012 through May 16, 2013.

Now in its second year, the Miami Beach Stage Door is the resident theatre company at the historic Byron Carlyle Theatre. Having undergone a $1.7 million renovation, it is the gem of North Beach. An Impressive yet intimate performance theatre, it has been described as the perfect venue in which to enjoy a show! Derelle Bunn and David Torres, co-founders of the Broward Stage Door Theatre in Coral Springs, bring 20 years of successful theatre production experience to Miami Beach.

DiSh – Dinner and a Show
The City of Miami Beach has launched “DiSh” the moniker for Dinner and a Show, a program in which participating restaurants near the Miami Beach Stage Door Theatre offer ticket holders a 15% discount on their lunch or dinner simply by presenting their tickets or ticket stubs.  Miami Beach residents also receive a 10% discount on tickets for Stage Door Theatre.  For the “dish” on participating restaurants, log on to www.mbculture.com/dish.

Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill
The time is 1959. The place is a seedy bar in Philadelphia. The audience is about to witness one of Billie Holiday’s last performances, given four months before her death. Written by Lanie Robertson, more than a dozen musical numbers are interlaced with salty, often humorous, reminiscences to project a riveting portrait of the lady and her music.

October 5 – October 28, 2012
The Immigrant
The Immigrant is the heartwarming story of a Russian Jew that comes to America to fulfill his dreams as he moves in with a Gentile family in small town Texas in 1909. This true story is based playwright Mark Harelik’s grandmother’s photo album.

November 30 – December 23, 2012
Side By Side By Sondheim
Side by Side by Sondheim is a musical revue featuring the songs of Broadway and film composer Stephen Sondheim. Its title is derived from the song “Side by Side by Side” from Company. The sophistication, wit, insight, heart and genius of Broadway’s most innovative and influential artist is at the center of this tribute to composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim. This dazzling array of some of Sondheim’s best-known songs features numbers from landmark shows that revolutionized the musical theatre with their masterful craft and astounding creativity.

February 1 – February 24, 2013
I Love A Piano
Join us for a nostalgic journey that spans seven decades of American history as seen through the eyes of legendary songwriter Irving Berlin.  Incorporating more than 60 of Berlin’s enduring and popular favorites, this musical captures the spirit of America from the Ragtime rhythms of the early 20th century through the innocent optimism of the 1950s.  Including timeless classics such as “White Christmas,” “God Bless America,” “Puttin’ on the Ritz” and “There’s No Business Like Show Business.”  I Love a Piano does more than define the music of a generation, it defines the music of our nation.

April 12 – May 16, 2013
Jeffrey
Jeffrey, a young gay man living in New York during the height of the AIDS crisis, decides that sex is too risky, and he decides to become celibate. He immediately meets the man of his dreams and must decide whether or not love is worth the fear of a boyfriend dying. Written by Trina Cormier.

Show times are Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $38.
