December 8th, 2006 Miami’s new professional symphony orchestra brings art to life in a concert co- sponsored by the Miami Dade College Art Gallery System. For the second concert of its inaugural season, the orchestra selected a repertoire that relates with the Visual Arts. Orchestra Miami bring paintings to life through its show Pictures: An Exploration in Visual Music. This unique, multi-media concert not only features music inspired by great works of visual art, but also the paintings themselves, and a text narration so the audience can follow along. For art lovers, it’s a wonderful introduction to classical music, and for classical music lovers, it’s a great way to visualize music. For everyone, it’s a unique opportunity to hear art and see music, and witness how paintings can leap off the canvas and come to life. The concert, featuring a 25-piece orchestra conducted by Music Director Elaine Rinaldi, will feature the art of Picasso, Wyeth, Velazquez, Renoir, da Vinci and Botticelli, among others. The concert will be followed by a reception in the Centre Gallery at the Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus in Downtown Miami. For more information, please call: 305.274.2103
