Silvia Lizama will give a presentation showing how a lifetime of influences has impacted her image making process. She will show different bodies of work, talk about the inspirations behind the work and finally give brief presentation on how she hand colors her black and white photographs.
Silvia Lizama was born in Cuba and moved to South Florida in 1960. She received her BFA degree from Barry University where she is now Chair of the Department of Fine Arts and her MFA from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. Having exhibited locally since 1978, her work has gained national and international attention and has been included in prestigious exhibitions and collections. She has been awarded the Southern Arts Federation/NEA Regional Visual Arts Fellowship Grant (1993), as well as the South Florida Cultural Consortium Grant in 1992 and 2015.
