Teatro Prometeo at Miami Dade College (MDC), one of the major success stories in Miami’s theatrical history and the only Spanish-language conservatory in the country, announces the presentation of Lección Para Señoritas. Set in a cabaret in the ‘Roaring 20’s’, Lección Para Señoritas is a modern version of the classic play The School for Wives (written by Jean-Baptiste Poquelin Moliere).
Obsessed with the idea of marital fidelity and with a yearning to be an example of morality and honesty, Arnolfo decides that the best woman to marry is his naïve pupil, Agnes. After being hidden away in a convent since childhood, Agnes is whisked away to one of Arnolfo’s homes where she continues to be educated under his capitivity. Four maids, Agnes’s caretakers, allow a young suitor named Horatio into the house. Agnes and Horatio fall madly in love with one another, causing a chain of hilarious mishaps. They must be astute enough to protect their true love and by doing so, expose the false morality of the times and values of their society.

The performance is directed by actress/director Neher Jacqueline Briceño. It marks part of the new stage repertory at Teatro Prometeo for graduates of the Conservatory in Theatre Arts. Performances will be in Spanish supplied with English subtitles.
