The fifteenth year of the Third Ave Art District Artwalk will be a memorable occasion, when the nine Third Avenue Studio Artists open their studios for the Annual Artwalk on the 6th of February 2010 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. The Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale will also open its doors to the public as part of the tour.

This group of professional artists has persistently focused its’ efforts for fifteen years on creating a visual arts district in Fort Lauderdale.  In the professional world, these artists are national and international award winning talents visible in museum and public and private collections.

Printmaker Rosanna Saccoccio’s delicate prints and bold abstract paintings will be on view. Rosanna first bought a two-story building for her studio 40 years ago. Since 1995, the additional eight artists have bought, built, or rented space in the area.

Shows this year will also include Francie Bishop Good’s new series of photos of women and children taken at the Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center.  These works will be in her studio gallery and the proceeds of sales of these pieces will benefit the center.  Sculptor and painter Tin Ly, will enamor you with his large metal sculpture-combined-paintings …

Madeline Denaro will display abstract paintings from her new series “The Simplicity of Complexity” and Mary Lou Siefker will include her mysterious acrylic shrouded figure paintings.

Wilma Bulkin Siegel, a retired oncologist, will be showing her acclaimed watercolor portraiture and a selection of drawings of students from the Museum of Art/ Fort Lauderdale Studio Art Academy.  Public Artist, Tobey Archer will capture the viewer with her sculpture series:  SETI, along with paintings and works in neon, sculpted paper, and fiber optics.  Two time Cultural Consortium award winner, Janet Gold will be featuring fine art photography and Margi Glavovic Nothard, the architectural designer of the group, will reveal her latest designs and a new series titled “Time Out” along with drawings blurring the boundaries between art and architecture.

Also participating in this year’s Artwalk is Set to Manual, an exhibition presented by Girls’ Club, a non-profit alternative space exhibiting contemporary art by women. Set to Manual includes works by thirty artists in diverse media characterized by intensive hand manufacture.

Free trolleys will be available to escort visitors from one location to another throughout the night. This is a special chance to meet the artists or even start an art collection. It is an opportunity to engage in the creative experience of the artist’s studio setting and to purchase professional artwork.
