Italian Film Festival 2006

From Oct 5th through Oct 10th, 2006The Italian Film Festival (IFF) will open its doors again at Regal South Beach Cinema 18, on Friday, October 5th, 2006. Every year the festival features a retrospective of classic Italian films as well as invites guests lecturers on the subject. Italian filmography gained worldwide recognition during the 50’s, thanks to works created by masters Federico Fellini, Luchino Visconti, Vittorio De Sica and movie stars like Marcello Mastroianni and Sofia Loren. “Italian movies have always been vastly different from their Hollywood counterparts, – comments Claudio Di Persia, Festival’s Director and Creator – I think they deserve a chance in the US. The IFF allows them to have an exposure in this market and at the same time, give American movie goers a chance to access movies that cannot be found at the multiplex or video-rental store around the corner”. The Italian Film Festival is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote Italian cinema outside Italy. The winner for Best Film will be announced on October 10th and will be awarded the People Choice Award during a gala dinner. www.cinemaitaly.com
