Coral Gables Art Cinema. Gala Opening

alt The Coral Gables Art Cinema finally opens on October 15th, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. with the Florida theatrical premiere of Freakonomics, the funny and insightful feature film based on the bestselling book. That Friday there will be a Gala fundraising screening and party as well. The Cinema is a seven-days-a-week, year-round venue. There are a total of 144 seats in a stadium configuration, plus accessible wheelchair spaces, with an on-site gallery, gourmet café and covered outdoor patio seating.

The Cinema is a state-of-the-art non-profit alternative movie theater, located in downtown Coral Gables, directly across the street from Books and Books. It will be one of the best and most comfortable state-of-the-art venue for appreciating alternative film in South Florida. It will showcase first run and regional premieres of American independent and international films, as well as classic titles, seven-days-a-week, year-round. The programming will be vibrant, diverse, multicultural and multilingual, reflecting the greater Miami community. In addition to film screenings, the Cinema will be a cultural hub for filmmakers, other artists and the public, with live performances, great food and drinks, sidebar events and educational activities.

The Founder and President is Steven Krams, long-time film industry leader, and the Cinema Director is Robert Rosenberg, Emmy Award-winning filmmaker of Before Stonewall and respected film festival programmer and arts consultant. The Board of Directors is made up of Carmen Argamasilla, Midge Blumberg-Krams, Patrick de Bokay, Daniel Gelber, Howard Glicken, Mitchell Kaplan, Steven Krams, Marshall Pasternack and Cathy Swanson-Riverbank.
