MAM presents “Convicted for Comics: A Talk with Underground Cartoonist Mike Diana”

In 1994 Mike Diana (b.1969) became the first artist ever to receive a criminal conviction for obscenity for artwork in the United States. This is the first time in 15 years Diana will return to Florida. Diana will deliver an illustrated talk reflecting on his experiences both prior, during and after the conviction.

Following the talk, Miami-based quartet Baby B Strings will debut their original arrangement of one of Modest Mussorgsky’s most famous works, “Pictures at an Exhibition.” Baby B Strings is Belinda Ho, violin, Tony Seepersad, violin, Vivian Torres, viola, Pilar Suter, cello with Oscar Bustillo, conducting.

Museum admission is $8, members free. This talk is intended for mature audiences only. Viewer discretion advised.
