Opening reception: January 30, 2013
From January 30 through February 7, 2013.
The City of Coral Gables has recently announced the opening of New Art for the New Year, an exhibition to celebrate some of the best art from galleries in the Gables, and all conveniently located at the Coral Gables Museum.
The show will feature a variety of select Latin American, Cuban, European and American paintings, mixed-media and sculptural works from Gables’ galleries such as ArtSight Gallery, ArtSpace Virginia Miller, The Americas Collection, Ca’ D’Oro Gallery, Casa Turquesa, Cernuda Fine Art Gallery, Collage Gallery – Fundacion Artistas, Unidos, H. Benitez Fine Art Gallery, Jorge M. Sori Fine Art, JSK Architectural Group and Klara Chavarria Contemporary Art.
The show is being curated by art veteran, Denise Gerson, an art appraiser and former associate director of the University of Miami’s Lowe’s Art Museum. “I was thrilled to be invited to work on this exhibition,” said Gerson. “Art is for everyone, and the Coral Gables’ art scene has set itself apart by enduring the test of time, and by offering local and international enthusiasts an unparalleled level of exciting new artwork, knowledge, and experience.”
“Art has been always been at the heart of Coral Gables. This event builds on the success of Gallery Night, and we’re delighted to support this collaboration and to bring a focus to the galleries that are a vibrant and highly valued part of the community and the City’s culture,” said Mayor Jim Cason.
