altCoinciding with the AIA convention is the release of    “Miami Architecture: An AIA Guide Featuring Downtown, the Beaches, and Coconut Grove.” This is an authoritative and comprehensive guide to the fascinating and diverse collection of some of the nation’s most interesting architecture. Authors Allan T. Shulman, Randall C. Robinson Jr., and James F. Donnelly have all had close ties to MDPL over the years.

Currently, Jeff Donnelly is a member of the Public Policy and Community Outreach Committee and a dedicated MDPL tour guide. He is also the Chairman of the Miami Beach Historic Preservation Board and a noted architectural historian. Allan Shulman is founding principal of Shulman + Associates and assistant professor of architecture at the University of Miami. Randall Robinson is former executive director of the North Beach Development Council and coauthor of MiMo: Miami Modern Revealed. He works for the City of Fort Lauderdale Planning & Zoning Department.

A conversation and book signing in celebration of the book’s publication will take place at the Wolfsonian-FIU on Friday, June 10th at 7:30 p.m. The book talk is offered in conjunction with the current installations, “Unrealized Architecture”, on view in the museum’s rare book and special collections library vestibule and “The Grand Hotels of Schultze & Weaver”, on view in the permanent exhibition gallery.
