William H. Bradley was America’s foremost graphic artist from the end of the nineteenth century into the 1930s. Through May 24, 2014. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is showcasing works by Hugo Franca. Based in Brazil, Franca uses all natural materials to create functional and sustainable design pieces, often tables and seating. Each piece uses reclaimed wood from felled, burned or dead trees found in Brazil.

More than three dozen new objects, along with two new special installations, are part of the recently updated Art and Design in the Modern Age: Selections from The Wolfsonian Collection (ADMA). The updated installation retains the exhibition’s core themes and overall structure while refreshing its graphic identity, refining the exhibition design, revising text panels, and introducing new material.

April 2013. Imagine a center that fostered peace by incorporating elements of different religions in one space. That’s what Miami Dade Colleges (MDC) architecture students did recently for eight weeks. March 2013. Drawing inspiration from Gaia, Greek goddess of the earth, Miami Dade College’s (MDC) interior design students from the School of Architecture and Interior Design created a porcelain tiled dress that won an award for “Most Historical” concept at the March 16 International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Design Mix show.

Wolfsonian Museum – FIU. March 2013. Eighteen FIU architecture graduate students are spending a good deal of their spring semester closely examining objects from the Wolfsonian museum’s collection as part of their coursework for Space, Society and the Digital: Virtual Worlds and Visual Aesthetics, taught by Winifred E. Newman, associate professor in the College of Architecture + the Arts.

Presented by Miami Design Preservation League. Through May 9, 2013. MDPL’s Spring 2013 Lecture Series kicked off on Tuesday, March 26th with Jorge Kuperman discussing Louis Kahn. The lecture is titled, Inspiration and Realism in the Practice of Architecture. Kuperman talked about Louis Kahn’s principles.
