Lecture The Mambo/Salsa Connection July 15th, 2007. 3:00 p.m.Legendary Latin dancer Cuban Pete has wowed audiences worldwide for 50 years with his passionate mambo dance movements. Together with his professional dance partner, Barbara Craddock, they connect the influence of the dances and music from Africa and Europe, which merged in Cuba around 1803. This marvel, which includes Celia Cruz’s contribution to the genre, is tracked through two-centuries culminating with today’s modern Latin dance/music culture. Vintage film and musical clips demonstrate that everything old is new again. For more information, please call: 305.673.7530
