Creative Visions at the Arsht Center

From May 31st through Jun 12th, 2008.Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. Miami ArtsAdrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts will host its first public exhibitions of new art, featuring pieces by the county’s youngest and oldest residents. Commissioner Joe A. Martinez’ annual Creative Visions Student Exhibit and the first Creative Golden Visions Senior Exhibit will display select submissions from hundreds of local artists at the Center.

The first of the events at the Center is an opening reception for the inaugural Creative Golden Visions reception on Saturday, May 31st, featuring the works of artists ages 55 years and older from Miami-Dade Park and Recreation’s Seniors Program and senior centers throughout the county. A collection of paintings, drawings, photographs, and mixed media works – all encompassing the theme of “Celebrating Life” – will also be on display to the public at the Peacock Foundation, Inc Studio in the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House on Sunday, June 1st, 2008. The opening ceremony will also include a performance from a talented group of local seniors.
 
The Creative Visions Student Art Exhibition, already in its fifth year, will showcase the artwork of District 11 students from 24 elementary, middle and high schools from Miami-Dade County Public Schools from June 5th to 12th in the lobby of the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall. The Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Division of Life Skills and Special Projects are working with the commissioner’s office to coordinate submissions and the exhibitions.
