Double Exhibition Opening At The Frost Museum

From June 18, 2014 through August 24, 2014

The School of Night: Arturo Rodríguez and 25 sq. inches: The Faces of the Permanent Collection. Two exhibitions, one featuring the mystical and emotional impressions of a single artist, and the other the depictions of artists throughout history and around the world, will open at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum on Wednesday, June 18, with a reception from 5:00pm to 9:00pm.

The first of these exhibitions, The School of Night, centers on Cuban-American artist Arturo Rodríguez. The Rodríguez opening begins promptly at 5:00pm with an overview of the works included in the exhibition by Dr. Alejandro Anreus, Associate Professor at William Paterson University in New Jersey, a presentation of his The School of Night book (written from and about the drawings in the exhibition) and selected readings of poetry included in its pages. The School of Night runs through August 24.

In the second exhibition, the Frost Art Museum draws from its extensive and multicultural permanent collection to present 25 sq. inches: The Faces of the Permanent Collection. Employing 53 works that cover a wide temporal and geographical range, the exhibition focuses on the face and how through the use of paintings, prints, photographs and sculptures, different artists approach the process of capturing and representing its features and expressions. The exhibition is curated by Klaudio Rodriguez.
