Miami Portrait Project by Monica McGivern

Seminole Building in Wynwood. April 27, 2013, 6:00 – 900 p.m.

South Florida artist and photographer Monica McGivern will display her “Miami Portrait Project” at the Seminole Building in Wynwood on Saturday, April 27th from 6 to 9 p.m. Presented and sponsored by commercial music and media curators Imagesound Americas, the exhibition displays never-before-seen photographs, multimedia works, and an interactive “motiongraphy” art installation.

McGivern presents a series of portraits that strive to document the stories and lifestyles of some of the individuals responsible for the multi-layer aesthetic of Miami cultural life. Subjects include Emmy award-winning filmmaker Andrew Hevia, illustrator Brian Butler, musicians Gavin Perry and Beatriz Monteavaro of Holly Hunt, Broward Palm-Beach New Times Music Editor Liz Tracy, Jordan Melnick of Beached Miami, and many more.

There will be complimentary cocktails, and light bites provided by Chef Timothy Tucker, whose “Culinary Training Program” provides free job skills training in the culinary arts to nontraditional students in Miami and Louisville, KY.

Says McGivern, “I thrive on the opportunity to document the stories and lifestyles of musicians and artists, because I know what it feels like to have to create.”
