at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. From Dec 8th through May 31st, 2008.

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Miami ArtFairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is currently presenting a sculpture exhibition of one of the world’s most iconic Pop artists, Roy Lichtenstein. Fairchild will host the large-scale sculpture exhibition as part of its art and flowers program. With sculptures ranging from eight to 30 feet high, Lichtenstein at Fairchild will mark the largest sculptural exhibition of Lichtenstein’s pieces in a naturalistic setting, and the first time they have been installed in a world-class botanic garden.

Fairchild will install ten individual pieces of Lichtenstein's most recognizable works, two of which, the Coup de Chapeau II, 1996, and Galatea, 1990, were recently installed in the Jardin des Tuileries in Paris. The 30-foot sculpture, Brushstrokes, 1996, is from Roy Lichtenstein's last monumental series of brushstroke sculptures.  Pieces from this series have been exhibited in some of the world's greatest cities – New York, Washington, Madrid and Zurich. Another Lichtenstein favorite, House II, 1997, and the grand Art Deco Modern Head, 1974/1989,

“Lichtenstein’s work will draw many people to the garden, all of whom will also be exposed to the importance of tropical plant conservation,” said Mike Maunder, PhD, Fairchild’s executive director.“This year the gardens will look astonishing as we fill the landscape with colorful flowers- a spectacular combination of tropical flowers and world class art.”
