The Influencers I & II: Prominent Works from the MDC Permanent Art Collection

January 17 through July 12, 2014

Miami Dade College has been collecting art at its individual campuses since the 1960s. Over the years, the collection has grown to more than 1,600 works in all mediums and genres, including painting, sculpture, works on paper, photography, video, film, installation and public sculpture.
The Influencers: Prominent works from the MDC Permanent Art Collection highlights works in the collection by some of most influential artists in historical and local context.

The Influencers I
Artists featured include historic figures such as Benjamin West, Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes, Joan Miro, Alexander Calder and Louise Nevelson, among others.

The Influencers II – From April 16
Artists featured include Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg, Joseph Beuys, Frank Stella, and Robert Arneson, as well as contemporary artists Arnold Mesches, Lynne Gelfman and Elena Sisto. Organized by the MDC Museum of Art + Design and curated by Executive Director and Chief Curator Jeremy Mikolajczak
