January 2007 Events From Jan 9th through Jan 30th, 2007Centro Cultural Español celebrates the arrival of 2007 with a series of events that will showcase visual art exhibitions, concerts, literature and more. Starting on January 9th, 2007, the Center presents Play – Cuban Video Art, a contemporary audiovisual show from Cuba. From January 22nd through 24th, there will be a Singing Workshop given by Spanish singer Luis Alberto Llaneza. The workshop is addressed to voice and music teachers and students, but still open to all those who are interested in this theme and want to participate as audit. The idea is to establish a dialog in which everybody can contribute with opinions and questions. The themes will be, among others, knowledge and description of the voice instrument, vocal technique, breathing for singing and performance, and repertory. Mr. Luis Alberto Llaneza will be also performing on January 26th accompanied by pianist Jazmín Sandragosian. Llaneza combines his work as a performer with his work as a lecturer and it is frequently featured in several univertities and music conservatories. To finalize the month, on January 30th , there will be a book presentation for Words For a Young Suicidal. The editor and writer Rodolfo Martínez Sotomayor presents the book words for a young suicidal (homage to the writer Juan Francisco Pulido), Silueta Editorial, 2006. The book is a compilation of short stories, articles and poems dedicated to Juan Francisco Pulido, a young Cuban writer that committed suicide in Minnesota, in February 2001 at the age of 22.
