Luminaire X

Lynne Golob Gelfman. From Jan 10th through 31st, 2009.   Luminaire X. Miami DesignLuminaireX is pleased to announce an exhibition of new work by artist, Lynne Golob Gelfman, to be on view at GalleryX from January 10th through January 31st, 2009. This exhibition will present for the first time a series of thirty small paintings called water/clouds/sand. The paintings are about movement fast and slow, clear and blurred. They are about looking through and transparency.

Often the surfaces do not show the working of the hand as they invite viewers to travel through their space and imagine clouds, water and sand constantly changing through time. Cloud forms, ripples, waves, patterns set by the tides: this series explores what appears, exists briefly, and dissolves.

Twelve additional paintings from the 2007 series lines will also be on view. Each work explores the interweaving of control and play in the making of an image. The paintings create a setting for possibility in which dripped paint interacts with a transparent structure of lines in ways that are at once intended and unforeseen. This exhibition confirms Gelfman’s dedication to process, repetition and mark-making.
