Panamerican Art Projects

Gustavo Acosta, Carlos Estevez and Ted Larsen. From Mar 1st through Apr 5th, 2008.
Panamerican Art Projects is opening three different exhibitions early March showing the work of Gustavo Acosta, Carlos Estevez and Ted Larsen. A careful selection of paintings, drawings and sculptures evidence the dissimilar points of views of these three artists.

Gustavo Acosta’s big canvases are showing a departure from his previous work. Although still interested in urban settings, he is offering a new view of the city and its surroundings. In these works he ventures into a different treatment of light, resulting in images that look almost abstract.

Carlos Estevez is presenting a series of boxes, a project on which he has been working on for the past couple of years. These assemblages, although in a minor scale, compare to his prior installations, were the scenographic sense dominates. A juxtaposition of found and made objects "compiled" into the boxes creates an alternate universe.

In the project room, there will be the most recent series of work by Ted Larsen. Although he is still using recycled materials, viewers can perceive a different approach to materials, a monochromatic color scheme and more complex forms.
