David Hicks: Clippings and Hard Fruit reflects a growing response to Hicks’ personal detachment from the natural world. Obsessed upon the missing elements the artist is segregated from, he engages natural forms to fill a personal void. The fruits of his fixation are the presented clippings and forms that make up Clippings and Hard Fruit. Manifested from the truth of Hicks’ surroundings, generated by a need for the organic Clippings and Hard Fruit is a response to an environmental quagmire. Hicks activates the full gallery space with wall works, sculptural installations and tabletop pieces, exploring his interpretation of the flora and fauna of the California landscape.
David Hicks is an artist currently living and working in California.
