Spanish Cultural Center Miami. Miami ArtsMiami: City-Metaphor. From Jun 6th through Jul 11th, 2008.The Spanish Cultural Center (CCE) presents “Miami: City-Metaphor”, a multiplatform project where twenty local artists present their work as a background for conferences and poetry. The project is a reflection of the diversity that is present in the interaction of Hispanic creators in this welcoming place called Miami and the perception of daily life and cultural aspects. In the past fifteen years, a new immigration has taken over Miami. It has conquered with its mix of people, especially from Latin America and Cuba, very different from the West Coast or Texas. Thus, there is a considerable art population that has its own and distinctive language. The artists featured in “Miami: City-Metaphor” belongs to this group.

Included in the show are Ana Ochoa, Arturo Cuenca, Avraham Zúñiga, Carlos de Villasante, César Trasobares, Ernesto Restrepo, Francis Ferrara, Gory, Gustavo Acosta, Juan Si González, Joaquín González, John Sánchez, Karla Turcios, Lili(ana), María Adelaida López, Mariano Costa Peuser, Mariu Beyro, Odalis Valdivieso, Pancho Luna, Pedro Portal, Pedro Vizcaíno, Rebeca Guarda, Vicenta Casañ and Zayra Mo.

Artist and work selection has been executed by curators Eduard Reboll and Jesús Rosado, with the participation of Grupo Este/Oeste headed by Alfredo Triff and Rossie Inguanzo.
