“1989 – 2012 Fotografías de Juan Carlos Alom”, is the culmination of more than 20 years of work that features exclusive and unseen pieces with special emphasis on those created in 1989. In the artist’s statement he describes the show as “more than 50 black and white and color photographs that will take us on a wonderful and real-life journey to that unknown dimension that is Cuba.”

Alom is a one of Cuba’s most interesting and relevant photographers as well as an experimental filmmaker. His artistic career started in the 90’s in Havana and his photo work is part of many important institutions and private art collections including Fototeca de Cuba, Daros Latinamerica, The Bronx Museum of New York, The Art Institute of Chicago and the Ludwig Forum for International Art in Germany. His experimental film “Havana Solo,” has been widely shown. In 2000, Alom was selected by Time Magazine as one of the ten principal Latin American photographers of the millennium.

“1989 – 2012 Fotografías de Juan Carlos Alom” will mark the first time his work is featured as a solo exhibition in Miami. In the US, his work has been presented in New York, New Orleans, Los Angeles and Chicago and is part of key art projects and collections worldwide.
