Turning History into Art

The Miami River Renaissance February 24th, 2007Saturday Feb 24th will mark a milestone in the redevelopment of the Miami River, as the first art show on the river representing both the marine traditions of the river and the newly evolving riverside neighborhoods opens for a single morning exhibition at Neo Vertika Building located on the south bank of the river. This first of its kind event will showcase the new paintings of the visiting French artist Dirk Verdoorn, whose fresh interpretations of the evolving river, highlight the stark contrasts between the ships that daily ply the river and the new urbanites who are taking up residence along the riverbanks; changing forever the river that Tequesta Indians called “Sweet Waters” or “Miami.” For more information, please call: 305.644.0544
