Pan American Art Projects. Fragmentos: A solo exhibition of Jose Manuel Fors

From October 22 through December 5, 2011.

Pan American Art Projects presents Fragmentos (Fragments), a solo show by Cuban artist Jose Manuel Fors. This will be Fors’ first exhibition in Miami, and the artist has prepared a considerable amount of new works, including pieces and installations that will be created in situ.

In our exhibition we are presenting different kinds of works, which Fors has been developing over the past couple of years. The series Atados (Bundles), is made with actual memorabilia that belonged to his family and friends. In the series Objetos (Objects), circular compositions are made with fragments of photographs. In the project room we will exhibit one of his ‘leaves installations’, in which he uses natural dried tree leaves, and which includes also a video.

Fors was born in Havana in 1956, where he currently lives and works, and attended the San Alejandro Academy. His work can be found in important museums and institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts in Havana, Cuba; MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) and Los Angeles County Museum of Art, in Los Angeles, California; The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas; the Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, among others.

This exhibition is curated by Irina Leyva-Perez and Alejandro Machado. The artist and the curators will attend the opening reception.
